The
27th Maxibasketball international tournament in commemoration of master of
sports of USSR Nikolay Bagley was held from 17 to 19 of November 2017 in Kyiv.
Maxibasketball players from Ukraine and Moldova honored the memory of Nikolay
Bagley who was an outstanding Ukrainian basketball player, master of sports of
the international class. As talented sportsman Nikolay Bagley was invited to
the Ukrainian national basketball team at the age of 16. He was a champion of
Universiade-1959 in Turin, Italy and a champion of Universiade-1961 in Sofia,
Bulgaria. In the line-up of USSR national team he won gold medal in European
Championship–1965 in Moscow and silver medal of Olympic Games-1964 in Tokyo,
Japan. In the national USSR league N. Bagley was silver and bronze medal-winner
many times with Budivelnik team, Kyiv. After his professional career Nikolay
Bagley dedicated all his personal energy to contribute to the basketball
development in Ukraine, training young basketball players till the end of his
life. He died in the 1991st at the age of only 54…

represented the Greatest Generation of Ukrainian basketball players. This Old
School had a lot more willpower and sacrifices for sport than today’s young
generation. Legendary Bagley’s teammates lived by the Old School code of faith,
courage, and character. They put their hearts and souls into basketball. These
people are prime examples of what means to persevere and never give up. Now
Ukrainian Maxibasketball players use more of the Old School skills which
Nikolay Bagley has embraced. The achievements of this Great Generation are the
instruction for getting back to the values that truly lead to success and
developing the new type of Ukrainian basketball. Next
